Client Profile:

This client is a five-hospital health system in a metropolitan area. The facilities range from a children's hospital, academic inner city level I trauma centers, to community hospitals. The largest of these facilities sees over 80,000 annual Emergency Department visits.

Project Description:

Echo was asked to evaluate the current ED process, such as ED clinical documentation and ED coding practices and purpose recommendations for revenue improvements. Extensive clinical documentation education was provided to over 500 nurses and 50 charge captures specialists. Our assistance in transitioning them to a template clinical documentation tool led to a smooth transition to an electronic medical record implementation.

Results and Achievements:

Echo was able to improve their emergency department system by assisting the client in realizing a multi-million dollar increase in net revenue across the health system.
